LORAIN, Ohio -- An 18-year-old male died Saturday evening after being shot at Lakeview Park North in Lorain, according to police.

Officers from the Lorain Police Department responded to a shooting report at 6:44 p.m. at the park located at 1800 West Erie Ave, according to a news release. Upon arrival, they found the victim unresponsive inside a vehicle parked near the west end of the parking lot, suffering from at least one apparent gunshot wound to the head.

Officers immediately began life-saving measures and called for Lifecare EMS while securing the scene. The victim was transported to Mercy Health Lorain Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

Detectives from the Lorain Police Department Criminal Investigations Bureau have taken over the investigation, which remains active
