Air India is set to operate a special flight from Milan to Delhi on October 20 to assist 256 passengers stranded after their original flight was cancelled due to a technical issue. The flight, designated AI138D, will depart from Milan at 7:00 PM local time and is expected to arrive in Delhi the following morning.
The cancellation of the original flight, AI138, occurred on October 17 when the airline's Boeing 787 Dreamliner encountered a technical problem upon landing in Milan. This disruption left passengers, many of whom were returning home for Diwali, in a difficult situation.
In a statement, Air India confirmed that it has provided immediate assistance to the affected passengers, including hotel accommodations and meals. The airline also offered options for full refunds or complimentary rescheduling based on passenger preferences.
Air India has faced similar technical issues in the past. A previous cancellation on August 16 involved a Milan-Delhi flight that was also grounded due to a maintenance task identified just before departure. The airline has reiterated its commitment to passenger safety and support, stating, "We remain committed to extending support and assistance to our passengers at every step."
In addition to the recent cancellations, two other flights were cancelled on August 3 due to technical problems. Air India has assured that alternative arrangements are being made to ensure passengers reach their destinations as soon as possible. The airline continues to prioritize the safety and well-being of its passengers and crew.
