New Baltimore police are investigating after the body of a 27-year-old male was found in Lake St. Clair early Sunday, Oct. 19.

According to a news release, officers and firefighters responded just before 3 a.m. to a report of the man who had fallen off a dock and was under water.

“Officers and firefighters responded to the scene and initially were unable to locate the subject in the water,” police said in the release.

The department’s patrol boat arrived to begin a search process of the lake. They were assisted by the Harrison Township Fire Department, Macomb County Sheriff’s Office, and United States Coast Guard vessels.

Investigators said the man was eventually located under the water’s surface.

An exact cause of death is expected to be determined following an autopsy by the Macomb
