New Delhi: Early dismissals of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and himself made it difficult for India in the first ODI against Australia in Perth on Sunday, skipper Shubman Gill rued after their loss.
India lost the rain-truncated contest by seven wickets after losing their top order for only 25 runs in 8.1 overs as Sharma departed for eight, Gill for 10 and Kohli for zero.
They couldn’t recover from those early setbacks and reached 136/9 in 26 overs, which Australia chased down in 21.1 overs, powered by Australia skipper Mitchell Marsh’s 52-ball 46.
“Never easy, when you lose three wickets in the powerplay, you’re always trying to play catch up. There were a lot of learnings and positives as well,” Gill said after the match.
When asked to point out the positives, Martinez said they took t
