INDIANAPOLIS — A pedestrian is dead after a crash on Indianapolis' south side early Sunday morning.

According to IMPD, just before 4 a.m. Oct. 19, officers responded to the 8100 block of Shelby Street , near East Stop 11 Road and US 31, on a report of a personal injury accident.

When officer arrived on scene, they said they found a woman who had been hit.

She was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, however, she was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police said the car that hit the pedestrian stayed on the scene.

Police said preliminary information indicates the striking car was heading southbound and hit the pedestrian. A second car heading northbound hit the striking car, and that car fled.
