BAY CITY, MI – Good Samaritan Rescue Mission’s new overnight drop-in center in Bay City is expected to open in mid-November, in time for colder weather but later than originally projected due to construction hurdles including asbestos removal.

Serenus Johnson Construction is currently working to prepare the facility, which will expand the mission’s ability to serve neighbors in need, officials with the rescue mission said in a social media post .

The project faced delays from the initial timeline, with asbestos removal being one of the obstacles that had to be addressed before work could continue, according to Bay City’s 4th Ward Commissioner Ben Tenney .
