Penn State waited in the Beaver Stadium tunnel last November to take on Maryland, a game that — had Penn State won — would send the Nittany Lions to the Big Ten Championship.
One fan was well aware of those stakes, and with a struggling Terrapins team on the opposing sideline, they decided to relay them to James Franklin .
Franklin retorted in a way that quickly went viral.
“Lock the (expletive) in,” he yelled back.
And boom, a Penn State motto was born. “LTFI” graced T-shirts, hats, social media posts and more. Even high-dollar defensive coordinator Jim Knowles got in on the craze after signing his contract this past offseason.
