Peterborough often gets a bad rep, but as someone who has grown up in the city, I think there is one landmark that we should be proud of. That landmark combines history, architecture, and culture into one building at the heart of the city.

That building is, of course, Peterborough Cathedra l . The cathedral is more than 1,000 years old, and it has seen much triumph and misery over that time.

Many notable figures have been buried here, such as Catherine of Aragon, Henry VIII’s first wife, and Mary Queen of Scots. Today, the cathedral provides a backdrop to the city centre.

Every time I visit the centre, it is always something I admire for its rich history and architecture. Living locally, I have visited the cathedral dozens of times.
