Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has described the new restrictions on media access as “common sense” and an effort to avoid a security breach. House Speaker Mike Johnson often uses the phrase to describe his legislative approach ( “Shutdown brings out airport finger-pointing,” Oct. 16).
Democrats are described by Republicans as Hamas-loving, antifa movement Marxists. The descriptors are devoid of relevance to specific policy discussions and attempt to paint the opposition as out of touch and un-American.
Let’s engage in debate about the issues involving our country but please refrain from repeating the same hackneyed monikers that cheapen the discourse.
