The San Jose Sharks released a statement on Saturday night amid backlash from a fan-submitted, pro-ICE message that somehow made its way to the videoboard on Hispanic heritage night.

The Sharks scheduled Saturday's game against the Penguins as the team's annual "Los Tiburones Night." And amid Donald Trump's deployment of ICE agents into major U.S. cities, one fan treated the game as an opportunity to spread a hateful message.

Whoever was screening the fan-submitted messages at SAP Center, though, missed what was written. So the Sharks ended up displaying on the videoboard, "SJ SHARKS FANS LOVE ICE !! GET ‘EM BOYZ !”

The Sharks apologized for the message and said the team is looking to determine its origin.

The Sharks ended up losing, 3-0.
