JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) — The Johnson City Police Department (JCPD) said it is investigating an alleged shooting that took place early Sunday morning on North State of Franklin Road.

According to a release from the JCPD, the shooting was reported at a Waffle House in the city at around 4 a.m. Upon arrival, the release said officers located one person in the parking lot with "multiple gunshot wounds."

The victim was reportedly transported to a hospital for treatment and was in stable condition as of 1 p.m. Sunday.

"The JCPD Criminal Investigations Division has identified a person of interest," the release states. "The search for that person is ongoing. Investigators believe this was an isolated incident, and there is no threat to the public."
