SANDUSKY, Ohio -- Cedar Point announced an early closure Sunday afternoon as threatening weather conditions moved through the Sandusky area.
The amusement park posted on its social media that it would close at 3 p.m. Sunday, citing weather conditions as the reason for the shortened operating day.
“Due to weather conditions, Cedar Point will close at 3 p.m. today, Sunday October 19. Tickets purchased for today will be valid until Nov. 2, 2025,” the park announced on social media.
The decision came as the National Weather Service forecast challenging conditions for the Sandusky area throughout the afternoon and evening. The weather service predicted showers would be likely during the afternoon hours, with thunderstorms possible after 2 p.m.
