Rangers will not be appointing Kevin Muscat at their new head coach, Sky Sports News understands.

Talks between the Rangers hierarchy and Muscat were at an advanced stage but ultimately an agreement between all parties couldn't be found.

Muscat is currently in charge of Shanghai Port - they are top of the Chinese Super League with the former Ibrox player trying to secure the title.

It's understood Rangers remain in talks with other potential candidates.
