METAIRIE, La. —

The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office has determined that the reported call was a prank call and found no credible element to the claim.

Investigators believe the false report was intended to cause panic and prompt an emergency response from JPSO. Advertisement

There was no shooting, nor any persons with a gun, and the mall was not evacuated and was not placed on any lockdown.

According to deputies, they responded to the mall around 1:30 p.m. due to a report of an armed suspect.

A security check was conducted, and deputies were unable to locate any armed suspects or anyone reporting to be a victim of a crime.
