SACRAMENTO, Calif. —

Sacramento State fans celebrated a homecoming win against Northern Colorado, with the Hornets coming out on top 40-35, followed by a postgame performance from rapper Lil Yachty.

Thousands of fans packed into Hornet Stadium. At the game, the announcer said it was the largest homecoming crowd ever and the third-largest crowd in Hornet Stadium history.

"It just felt like family. Everybody, the alumni felt like they still went here. It just felt like family. And I love the community that Sac State has," Joekeya Brewer, a student at Sac State, said.

Fans expressed hope for a season that they say is already off to a strong start.

"This is the most crowded I've seen it in a long time. So, it's pretty exciting to see,” Joe Ochoa, Sac State alum, said.
