NEW PALTZ, N.Y. — Thousands of pickle fans gathered at the Ulster County Fairgrounds on Sunday for the Rosendale International Pickle Festival.
The festival, now in its 28th year, celebrated its third year at the fairgrounds after outgrowing the Rosendale Recreation Center.
Visitors to the festival could see why the festival became too big for its previous location. The event stalled traffic for miles in both New Paltz and neighboring Gardiner on Sunday afternoon. The festival also hosted more vendors than in previous years.
Many festivalgoers headed straight for the festival’s “Pickle Village,” an area reserved for pickle vendors. Lines stretched far for everything from classic pickled cucumbers to inventive creations like pickled fruits and pickle-based dips and spreads.
