Brandy is speaking out after abruptly walking off stage during one of the first stops on her first coheadlining tour with Monica.

The singer, 46, apologized to fans in a statement shared on Instagram, addressing the "abrupt end" to her and Monica's concert in Chicago on Saturday, Oct. 18.

"After weeks of nonstop rehearsals, last night I experienced dehydration and feelings of wanting to faint," she wrote, adding that "everyone involved agreed that prioritizing my well-being was of the utmost importance."

According to videos shared on social media, Brandy abruptly exited the Chicago concert early, leaving Monica to take the stage solo. The evening reportedly ended before the duo had performed "The Boy Is Mine," the 1998 hit that gives their tour its name.

"Monica came out, monologued, sat, sung and left," one fan wrote on X. "No bye, no nothing. Screen went off. Lights came on and they told us to get out."

Videos from the show showed Brandy appearing to deal with technical difficulties before her exit, remarking that "the sound is weird."

In her statement on Instagram, Brandy said she tried to give the concert "my all despite not feeling OK" but noted that "with having to make some adjustments and the show being very technical, unfortunately, it was impossible to fully connect sonically with the production."

She added that she went right from the arena to see a doctor and has "taken the proper precautions to help moving forward." Brandy plans to return to the stage "stronger and more grateful than ever" this evening for a show in Indianapolis.

Brandy and Monica announced their first coheadlining tour in June and kicked it off on Oct. 16 in Cincinnati. After their Oct. 19 show in Indianapolis, the duo will next head to Nashville before returning to Chicago for another show on Saturday, Oct. 25.

The tour is scheduled to wrap on Dec. 14 in Jacksonville, Florida.

Brandy previously spoke out in 2022 after suffering a health scare due to "dehydration and low amounts of nutrition," she said. "To my beloved fam, friends, and starz thank you for sending love and light my way," she wrote on social media at the time, adding that she was "following doctors' orders and getting the rest I need."
