Israeli forces launched air and artillery strikes on southern Gaza on Sunday, threatening to unravel a fragile US-brokered ceasefire, which took effect on October 11.
The latest attacks, which Israel said targeted militants in Rafah who had opened fire on its soldiers, underscored deep mistrust between the two sides just nine days after the truce took effect.
