The Spanish Fort Police Department is investigating after two people were found dead on the Causeway on Sunday morning.

Officers responded to a call about an incident at approximately 10:30 a.m. When they arrived on the scene on Battleship Parkway, they found an adult male and an adult female dead from gunshot wounds.

"Based on the preliminary investigation, the incident appears to be a murder-suicide," police stated.

Police said more information would be released as it becomes available.
