ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A Delta Air Lines flight to Los Angeles had to return to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on Sunday after reports of a smoke-like smell on board.
Delta says the crew on Flight 898 from Atlanta to Los Angeles decided to turn around after “a smoky odor was detected in the cabin.” They said the decision was a standard practice in the situation.
The flight, which was boarded by 219 passengers, two pilots and five crew members on a Boeing 757-300 jet, landed safely, and customers got off the plane normally after returning to the gate, according to Delta.
The airline said “maintenance teams are evaluating the aircraft,” as they work to get passengers to their destination on a new flight soon.
