The Billy Napier era with Florida football has come to an abrupt ending.
Following three-plus seasons leading the Gators as the head coach, Napier was relieved of his duties on Oct. 19, the day after a 23-21 win over Mississippi State in Gainesville. Napier finishes his tenure with a 22-23 record leading the Gators.
Napier was hired by athletic director Scott Stricklin following the firing of Dan Mullen, who was similarly fired by the Gators after going 34-15 in three-plus seasons. Napier was brought in to fix the culture at Florida and rebuild the program, ultimately falling short in his duties.
