Buffy the Vampire Slayer had no shortage of unforgettable monsters, and many of them were gone far too soon. While the Big Bads were spectacularly crafted villains, many one-off monsters who left just as big an impression in a single episode. These smaller threats often revealed new sides of Buffy and her allies, only to vanish before reaching their full potential.

There are plenty of terrifying Buffy monsters that should have been a Big Bad, given how much story potential they carried. Some were terrifying in their design, others in their psychology or ideology. With more screen time, these villains could’ve anchored an entire season’s arc, pushing Buffy and the Scoobies into darker, more complex territory while redefining what a Big Bad could be in the Buffyverse.
