A home on Cowichan Lake Road was destroyed in a major fire Sunday morning, though no one was inside at the time, according to the Sahtlam Volunteer Fire Department.
Fire Chief Randy Busch says the call came in around 8:17 a.m. for a structure fire at 5920 Cowichan Lake Road. Busch, who was first on scene, says the two-storey wood-frame house was already fully engulfed, with flames rising well above the roofline.
“I’m sure the flames were at least 20 feet above the roof line when I got there, and I was the first one there, so, and they were worse after,” Busch said.
Crews from the Lake Cowichan Fire Department were called in to assist, as firefighters attacked the blaze from two sides.
