A man has been accused of selling fake Cartier and other high-end pieces at a jewellery store after police dismantled an alleged counterfeit luxury jewellery racket.
The 40-year-old man is facing up to five years in prison over allegations he attempted to sell fake jewellery, including pieces marked as Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels, from a Burleigh Heads store.
The man allegedly tried to pass the fraudulent goods off as genuine, with one detective saying he "preyed upon the goodwill and the back pocket of the customers involved".
Australian Federal Police (AFP) Detective Superintendent Adrian Telfer said the man "took advantage" of customers who believed their purchase was genuine.
