KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — For those chasing the runner's high, a new 5K is coming to Neyland Stadium in the fall.

On Oct. 18, the Knoxville Track Club is hosting the "Finish on the field" 5K. It has been six years since anyone crossed the finish line in Neyland, and now it is back.

Participants can run 3.1 miles or opt for a shorter route at 1.5 miles. The 3.1-mile race will start near World's Fair Park. Spectators can come and cheer on racers on the sidelines as they push for the checker boards.

The executive director of KTC, Eric Weatherbee, said he wanted to bring back the one-of-a-kind race.

"It's such a surreal experience that we wanted to be able to offer it, and the university has been gracious and allowed us to be able to provide this opportunity again," said Weatherbee.
