Jammu, Oct 20: The Indian National Congress (INC) has announced that it will leave the Nagrota Assembly seat for its ally, the National Conference (NC), as part of the ongoing seat-sharing arrangement between the two parties in Jammu and Kashmir.
The decision, party leaders said, was taken in the spirit of coalition unity and with the broader objective of defeating the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the upcoming elections.
“After detailed deliberations over the report of the JKPCC and taking into account various factors, including the fact that in the last Assembly elections in 2024, which was contested by Congress and NC, on friendly basis, the National Conference had secured second position in the final election results of the said constituency,” JKPCC chief spokesperson Ravinder Shar
