Detroit – Crossing the finish line in front of all, Andrew Bowman wasted no time to embrace his wife and newborn child after securing himself as back-to-back Detroit Free Press Marathon winner on Sunday.
Bowman, from Ferndale, experienced it in a similar way last year, finishing first with a time of 2:17:47. However, this year he was not racing alongside his wife Sydney, who came out on top of the women’s marathon in 2024. This year, Sydney and their newborn, Liam, got to witness Andrew cross the finish line in a front-row view.
This year’s race was no easier than last year's, with humid, windy conditions covering the Detroit-Windsor area, but the one thing that propelled Bowman in the midst of roadblocks was the people waiting for him at the end.
