PM Modi and other leaders have extended heartfelt Diwali greetings to the nation, urging citizens to embrace harmony and compassion during the festival. In a message on X, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "Greetings on the occasion of Diwali. May this festival of lights illuminate our lives with harmony, happiness and prosperity. May the spirit of positivity prevail all around us." He encouraged people to support local artisans by purchasing Indian-made products, stating, "Let’s mark this festive season by celebrating the hard work, creativity and innovation of 140 crore Indians. Let’s buy Indian products and say—Garv Se Kaho Yeh Swadeshi Hai!"

President Droupadi Murmu also shared her wishes, describing Diwali as a symbol of the "triumph of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and good over evil." She called for self-reflection and urged citizens to support the needy, wishing for happiness and peace for all.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge joined in the celebrations, expressing his hopes for unity and justice. He stated, "Heartfelt Diwali greetings to all my fellow citizens. May this wonderful festival, which leads from darkness to light, fill your life with joy." Kharge emphasized the importance of promoting love and confronting injustice.

In Ayodhya, the festival was marked by a record-setting event where over 26 lakh oil lamps were lit along the Saryu River, entering the Guinness World Records. The Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department organized this event, which saw participation from over 30,000 volunteers. The grand Saryu aarti featured 2,128 devotees performing the ritual together, adding to the festive spirit.

As homes and streets across India lit up with diyas, leaders from various states, including Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, also conveyed their Diwali wishes, hoping for peace and prosperity for all. The festival, celebrated with immense fervour, signifies the victory of good over evil and is a time for family gatherings and prayers to Goddess Lakshmi, the deity of wealth and prosperity.
