Reports of Christian McCaffrey's downfall were greatly exaggerated.
The San Francisco 49ers running back put his doubters to shame with one of the best games of his career against the Atlanta Falcons on "Sunday Night Football."
McCaffrey finished his Week 7 outing with a new season-high mark in rushing yards – a mark that nearly cracks his career top-five best rushing performances – and more than 200 yards from scrimmage. He also scored twice as many rushing touchdowns Sunday night as he had all season going into the prime-time matchup.
Thanks in part to McCaffrey's heroics, the 49ers were able to remain in a tie for first place in the NFC West with a 20-10 win over the Falcons.
