Tej Pratap Yadav, the elder son of RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav and chief of the Janshakti Janta Dal, has been booked for allegedly breaching the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) during the nomination process for the Mahua assembly seat in Bihar's Vaishali district. The incident occurred on October 16, when a video surfaced on social media showing Yadav using an SUV adorned with a police logo and a beacon light during a procession to submit his nomination papers.
The district police stated that the Circle Officer of Mahua filed a complaint after reviewing the video. An investigation revealed that the police insignia and beacon light on the vehicle were not official but private. Consequently, a case was registered against Yadav for violating the election code.
Tej Pratap Yadav had previously been expelled from the RJD on May 25 for six years after he reportedly admitted to being in a relationship with a woman. Following his expulsion, he claimed that his social media account had been hacked when he deleted a post about the situation. Lalu Prasad Yadav has distanced himself from Tej Pratap, citing his "irresponsible behaviour."
After his removal from the RJD, Tej Pratap alleged that there was a conspiracy aimed at creating a rift between him and his younger brother, Tejashwi Yadav. He expressed these sentiments in several posts on social media, referring to the situation as being orchestrated by "Jaichand," a term he used to denote traitors.
