COLUMBIA, S.C. — An extended stretch of dry and comfortable weather is on the way for the Midlands, as cooler and drier air settles in behind Sunday evening’s cold front. That front brought a noticeable change, sweeping away the humidity and ushering in much lower dew points.

A few areas got some much-needed rainfall on Sunday, but the showers were very light, and most areas stayed dry.

Gusty northwest winds followed the front, but those will gradually weaken through today as high pressure builds across the region. Afternoon highs will reach the low 70s, while the air remains crisp and dry with dew points dipping into the 30s, a true sign of fall settling in.
