Man in his 70s struck by car in northeast Rochester

A man in his 70s was struck by a car in northeast Rochester early Monday morning, according to Rochester police.

The crash occurred at Merchants Road and Berwick Avenue just after 2 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 20, said Lt. Anthony DelVecchio of the Rochester Police Department.

The pedestrian, a city resident, was walking in the roadway when he was struck by a vehicle traveling northwest on Merchants Road, DelVecchio said. The pedestrian was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment, where he was listed in critical, but stable condition Monday morning, DelVecchio said.

The driver of the involved vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, according to police. No charges were filed as of early Monday. Investigators said weather conditions and the time of the crash may
