The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) will not contest the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections after failing to release its list of candidates before the nomination deadline ended on Sunday. This is the first time in recent years that the Jharkhand-based regional party, a key ally in the INDIA bloc, will have no presence in the Bihar polls.
On October 18, JMM general secretary and spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya had announced that the party would field candidates in six constituencies: Jamui, Chakai, Dhamdaha, Manihari, Pirpainti and Katoria. However, no names were declared until the nomination process closed on October 20.
