New York State Police found human remains last week in Orange County at what media outlets are reporting was a location once favored by mobsters for burying victims.

Troopers from the Montgomery barracks responded to a report of human remains located near Sloop Hill Road off Route 9W in the town of New Windsor on Tuesday, Oct. 14, at about 1:40 p.m., according to a news release from the state police.

According to police sources who spoke to News12 in Westchester , the location is “an old mob dumping ground.”

Workers from Central Hudson power company were excavating in the area when they unearthed the human remains, according to the state police.

The Troop F Forensic Identification Unit and the police Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Montgomery are continuing to investigate.
