PASCO, Florida — A Florida mother who is a public school teacher has been charged with homicide after she called 911 to report the death of her son, authorities said.

The Pasco Sheriff’s Office said the call came in around 9:50 a.m. on Sunday. Investigators identified the caller as 40-year-old Justine Mroz, the boy’s mother.

“The suspect, an adult woman and mother of the juvenile, reported the incident to dispatch,” the sheriff’s office said in a news release. “The manner of death is part of the ongoing investigation.”

Mroz was arrested and charged with second-degree homicide. Authorities have not released information about a possible motive.

According to Pasco County Schools, Mroz is a teacher at West Pasco Education Academy’s Harry Schwettman Campus in Hudson, which serves grades 6–1
