The Carolina Panthers will have to prepare for a tough challenge without their starting quarterback.

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported that Bryce Young is expected to miss next week’s game against the Buffalo Bills after suffering a high ankle sprain.

An MRI on Monday confirmed the injury, which occurred during Sunday’s 13-6 win over the New York Jets. The 2023 first-overall pick left the game in the second half and did not return.

With Young sidelined, veteran Andy Dalton is expected to start against Buffalo but could be pressed into more games. The 37-year-old has appeared in limited action this season but has 14 years of NFL experience.

Dalton threw for 60 yards in relief of Young in the win over the Jets and improved the Panthers to 4-3 to start the season.
