A motorcyclist died in a crash on Interstate 15 in Iron County on Sunday evening, Utah Highway Patrol said.

The incident reportedly occurred about 3 miles south of Cedar City and involved a Suzuki motorcycle and a GMC Sonoma pickup truck.

According to brief statement posted by Utah Highway Patrol, the motorcyclist was northbound on I-15 near mile marker 54 at approximately 7:46 p.m. when the bike rear-ended the pickup truck.

"After impact, the pickup struck the rear of a SUV," the press release states. "The driver of the motorcycle sustained fatal injuries. No other injuries were reported."

The incident prompted the full closure of northbound I-15 between Exit 51 at Hamilton Fort and Exit 57 at the southern end of Cedar City, with all northbound traffic being detoured onto Old Highway
