HOUSTON — Early voting is now underway across Texas, and election officials in Harris County say things are running smoothly despite earlier concerns about voter registration verification delays.

Polls opened at 7 a.m. Monday, and by mid-morning, at least 2,000 people had already cast their ballots in person. Harris County Clerk Teneshia Hudspeth said there have been no major issues so far, but confirmed her office is keeping a close eye on the system after reports of delays verifying voter registrations.

“So far, it hasn’t shown any impact at polls in Harris County,” Hudspeth said. “But workers are keeping watch.”

Hudspeth added that it takes an estimated 12,000 to 15,000 poll workers to keep Election Day operations running smoothly, and those workers are already hard at work as early
