A 29-year-old man who had been acquitted of killing a Lyft driver five years ago was found guilty on Oct. 16 of fatally shooting a man who, according to court documents, went to a Claymont apartment complex to buy heroin from him.

Much of the Aug. 23, 2024, events leading to Devontre Taylor's fatal shooting at the Harbor House Apartments were captured on video, according to court records. This includes Michael R. Toombs chasing and firing a gun at his 35-year-old victim in the complex's parking lot, as well as standing over a collapsed Taylor and firing more shots.
