1Wrong-way pickup slams into SUV on NJ Turnpike killing four in Salem County

CARNEYS POINT, NJ – Four people were killed early Saturday morning when a white pickup truck traveling the wrong way on the New Jersey Turnpike collided head-on with another vehicle in a devastating crash, according to the New Jersey State Police.

The fatal collision occurred around 12:40 a.m. near milepost 1.3 in the southbound lanes of the Turnpike in Carneys Point Township, Salem County. Investigators say a white 2021 Dodge Ram pickup was heading northbound in the southbound lanes when it struck a black Mazda CX-5 traveling correctly in the southbound direction.

The impact resulted in the deaths of four victims. Their identities have not yet been released as authorities work to notify next of kin.
