YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) -- Humane agents with Animal Charity seized 21 cats from a West Side home on Monday.

The cats were taken as housing code enforcement officers and county officials were doing an investigation in the 100 block of South Maryland Avenue.

The home was in poor condition inside and was "red tagged," or designated uninhabitable until several issues inside could be addressed or repaired.

Citations are not expected, a housing code spokesman said.

The cats were taken to Animal Charity for examinations.
