TUSCARORA, STEUBEN COUNTY (WETM) — Two people residing in Brooklyn were arrested in October after deputies said they tried scamming a Steuben County resident out of thousands of dollars.

Chengbin Lin, 49, and Linquing Chen, 48, both of Brooklyn were arrested in October on the following charges; • Attempted grand larceny in the third degree, a class E felony • Criminal facilitation in the fourth degree

The couple's arrest stems from an report that Chen and Lin remotely gained access to a Tuscarora resident's computer and attempted to scam $28,000 from them, according to information from the Steuben County Sheriff's Office.

The victim quickly contacted the sheriff's office with the information on the scam and how the payment was going to take place. Deputies were able to get involved
