PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Roughly 757,000 Oregonians who are signed up for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) will not be getting their food benefits in November due to the ongoing federal shutdown, officials say.
Those impacted will be contacted by the Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS) on Monday, according to Oregon Gov. Tina Kotek, who called out the Trump Administration in a statement.
“This is a cruel and unacceptable situation. President Trump should focus on feeding families by negotiating a deal with Congress, not doing other things like deploying troops in American cities on taxpayers’ dime.” Kotek said.
Kotek said that the Trump Administration had directed states to not to begin the process of distributing November benefits until further notice. The SNA
