A man was hospitalized with serious injuries when a demolition derby car he was working on fell on his head.

The accident was reported early Saturday morning at a property on the 21000 block of County Highway 73 in rural Hewitt, Otter Tail County.

The Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office says a 25-year-old Park Rapids man was working underneath the demolition derby car in a garage when the car fell off its jack, pinning his head between the car and the floor.

Others at the scene were able to lift the car off the victim's head, but he suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to St. Cloud Hospital.

No update has been provided on his current condition.
