A southeastern Minnesota woman has been sentenced two four years in prison for an Amish buggy crash that killed two children and injured two other children in 2023.
Samantha Jo Petersen, 37, received her sentence last week after she pleaded guilty in July to one count each of criminal vehicular homicide and criminal vehicular operation.
Petersen admitted to being high on methamphetamine when her SUV struck an Amish buggy on Sept. 25, 2023 along southbound County Road 1 in rural Stewartville, about 10 miles south of Rochester.
The crash killed Wilma Miller, 7, and Irma Miller, 11. Two other siblings, ages 13 and 9, suffered serious injuries.
