EUGENE — Jackson Shelstad is intent on not missing any games, but that’s not the expectation for the Oregon point guard as he recovers from a broken right hand.
Oregon coach Dana Altman said the Nov. 4 season opener against Hawaii “probably won’t be” in play for Shelstad, who was expected to miss four to six weeks due to the injury suffered earlier this month when he “ran into a guy” during practice.
“I can’t say that for sure,” Altman said. “Jackson says he’s going to play, but the trainers and doctors will have to release him. ... We had the doctors here in town. We also had a specialist in LA, who works with a lot of NBA teams take a look at it. They both agreed on the procedure to get it healed.”
