A Delaware County man will serve 12 to 25 years in prison for buying guns that were later used in violent crimes in Philadelphia.

Tahir Zahir, from Sharon Hill, was sentenced Monday after pleading guilty to the felony charges back in August, 2025.

He was charged with acting as a straw purchaser for 14 firearms between 2018 and 2023.

A straw purchase is when someone buys a weapon for another person who is not legally permitted to own one.
