World leaders, including US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, extended warm Diwali greetings as millions celebrated the festival of lights across India. The festival, symbolising the victory of light over darkness, was marked by heartfelt messages from various global leaders on Monday.

In a statement from the White House, Trump expressed his best wishes to all Americans celebrating Diwali. He stated, "For many Americans, Diwali is a timeless reminder of light’s victory over darkness. It is also a time to bring families and friends together to celebrate community, draw strength from hope, and embrace a lasting spirit of renewal." He added that the festival brings serenity, prosperity, hope, and peace.

Kash Patel, Director of the FBI, also shared his greetings on social media, saying, "Happy Diwali — celebrating the Festival of Lights around the world, as good triumphs over evil." The Indian Embassy in Washington conveyed similar wishes, hoping for health, happiness, and prosperity for everyone.

Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu sent his wishes directly to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating, "Wishing my friend Narendra Modi and the people of India a very Happy Diwali! May the Festival of Lights bring hope, peace, and prosperity to your great nation." The State of Israel echoed these sentiments, wishing for peace and renewal as millions lit diyas across India.

Israeli diplomats actively participated in local Diwali celebrations, with Sara Yanovsky from the Embassy in Delhi wishing everyone a happy and meaningful Diwali. The Israeli Embassy also shared their festive preparations, including diya and decor shopping, highlighting the strong friendship between India and Israel.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney joined the global chorus of Diwali greetings, stating, "Tonight, families and communities across Canada will light diyas and celebrate the triumph of light over darkness — of good over evil. Wishing everyone celebrating Diwali a joyful Festival of Lights."

In the UK, Prime Minister Keir Starmer extended his wishes to the Hindu, Jain, and Sikh communities, while the UAE Ambassador to India, Abdulnasser Alshaali, reflected on his personal connection to the festival, saying, "Diwali has been part of my journey in India from the very start, and as I celebrate my fourth one here, its warmth feels more special than ever."

As India celebrated Diwali, the festival's rich traditions were observed, including worshipping Lord Ganesha and Goddess Lakshmi, and the five-day festivities that began with Dhanteras. The celebrations brought communities together, reinforcing the spirit of joy and togetherness that Diwali embodies.
