Niagara’s two new hospitals are inching closer to opening after years of planning, design and construction to ensure they meet the needs of the region’s aging population.

West Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Grimsby is expected to open on Nov. 24, while work on the south Niagara Falls hospital continues in expectation of serving its first patient by the summer of 2028.

While the two hospitals are significantly different in their size and scope, the team from Parkin Architects Ltd., which designed both facilities, incorporated many of the same elements into each.

“For patients navigating the building for the first time, it can be a little bit overwhelming when you come into hospital facilities that are quite large and have so many spaces,” said architect Shannon Wright.
