ATLANTA — The Atlanta Hawks have reached an agreement to extend all-defensive guard and the reigning NBA Most Improved Player Dyson Daniels to a four-year, $100 million extension.
Sources confirmed the extension with 11Alive's Maria Martin on Monday afternoon.
Daniels, nicknamed "The Great Barrier Thief" for his defensive prowess and his Australian heritage, was drafted No. 8 by the New Orleans Pelicans in 2022 and was traded to Atlanta in the deal that sent All-Star guard Dejounte Murray to the Pelicans last offseason.
In 2024-25, Daniels averaged 14.1 points per game and a mind-blowing three steals per game, which led the NBA.
He finished second in the Defensive Player of the Year voting, was First-Team All NBA Defense and won the NBA's Most Improved Player Award. Credit: (AP Phot
